Hello,
this is intended to be a place where you find information on what to do with the new situation. Account Types: In a few days, there will be only "premium accounts" around, because RapidShare is switching all accounts into "premium accounts". Unpaid premium accounts (i.e. such without Rapids) are dormant, but files remain as they are. If a file is not downloaded after 60 days, it is deleted. Remaining Premium duration and TrafficShare Have been converted into Rapids on June, 29. 2010. Premium and Free points There is no automatic conversion. You need to convert them yourself. To do so, please deactivate the security lock and select "Convert Rapid Points". Select to extend your account according to the points available. Maybe you need to convert premium to free points first. You can only convert in groups of 5,000 premium + 5,000 free points in one go. If you have e.g. 6,000 premium and 4,500 free points, you need to convert 1,000 (minimum conversion number !) to free points, so you can redeem 5,000 + 5,000. The remaining 500 free points are lost. Storage definitions RapidShare defines two kinds of storage, one is basic and all files there are subject to the 60 days rule. If a file is not downloaded within 60 days, it gets deleted after 60 days. Each download resets the timer for that specific file. Secured storage means that files that fall into that storage are never deleted. To explain this: you have 15 GB of data, and RapidSmall. If none of your files are downloaded, RapidShare will delete after 60 days 5 GB of your files (assuming they delete the eldest first). 10 GB will remain as they are secured. RapidShare packages RapidShare created five packages to suit the needs of the user. We won't discuss if it really suits our needs. Your account is grouped depending on the files that you have with RapidShare. If you have * up to 10 GB, you end up in RapidSmall = 4 Rapids/day * up to 50 GB, you end up in RapidMedium = 20/Rapids/day * up to 200 GB, you end up in RapidBig = 78 Rapids/day * up to 600 GB, you end up in RapidSuperSize = 228 Rapids/day * more than 600 GB, you should end up in RapidBusiness = 449 Rapids/day If your files have a short turnaround, you should do this: * remove the security lock * go to Settings * mark Automatically delete inactive files (after 60 days without a download). * select a package that suits your needs (in my case, RapidSmall is enough). * activate the security lock again Why? RapidShare will put you again and again into a group that corresponds with the storage taken up by your files, as long as this switch is not set. Automatic "Adjustments" If you have a RapidSmall package download 1 GB + 1 Byte, you are upgraded to RapidMedium, effective the same day, and you are debited the difference between both packages (in this example, 20 - 4 = 16 Rapids). At the moment there is no way to block this. I have written to RapidShare and told them that I do not wish an automatic switch. What if my package is too big? If you adjusted the Automatically delete inactive files (after 60 days without a download). switch, unlock the security lock, go to settings and select another, smaller package. The change will take effect on midnight, CET. Happy Hour Happy Hour is still there. For how long? Nobody knows. Premium Zone This is the previous beta premium zone, and still much is in beta. File Manager File manager allows you to sort your files by name, download or upload date. The sort order you set is remembered, but not executed. If you come back to your premium zone, you find "download date" as sort order, but the sorting is different. You need to select another sort order, and then switch back to your preferred sort order. Non working functions RapidShare changed a lot of URLs, so in question, do the following: * clear all RapidShare cookies * restart your browser * go to Code:
Code:
www.rapidshare.com * try again Rewards Program Still unanswered. Thanks to YaGru for this
